Review by Expert Designers at Yellow Slice – Aadesh Padave, UI Designer and Aobhik Mandal, UX Designer
Globetrotters know the struggle behind planning a travel experience, and having a platform to decide everything for them can make this process convenient. Finding all the travel activities in one place gives users much comfort. Whether you want to book a hotel or a cruise ticket, finding everything at one place at your fingertips is a godsend for backpackers.
Problem Statement
People who frequently like to say Bon Voyage and set off on their travels need a companion they can rely on for all their hotel bookings, flight tickets, and travel itineraries. Wanderlust is trying to solve that gap by streamlining all travel activities.
Below, we have mentioned the difficulties travellers usually face with the travel apps:
- Selecting the travel date is cumbersome, as users select the wrong dates on the portal.
- Choosing filters is never helpful, as the users get confused by the variety of options they are presented with.
- The overall user experience of the application is rarely satisfactory because they don’t know where to begin.
Solutions
Designers at Yellow Slice performed a competitive analysis to understand what unique solutions we could provide with Wanderlust, and we came up with a few helpful ones.
- The booking experience is made simple by incorporating only two input fields and tabs to switch between flights and hotels.
- Know what’s cheap and what’s expensive by quickly comparing the prices in a few clicks.
- Implemented augmented reality (AR) experiences that let users virtually walk on the landscape or stroll through the historical streets of their chosen destination.
Expected Outcome
Below are the expected outcomes that we used to define the success of Wanderlust.
- Considering that first impressions matter, the picturesque onboarding journey with simple cues is expected to gain 20% more customers.
- The least amount of CTAs is used so that fewer users get lost in the booking process.
- Users will find it delightful that they can form an itinerary and add places they like to visit and plan.
